Lectio Divina

A Deeper Spiritual Approach to Prayer and Scripture.
Next session will begin on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

Lectio Divina means “Divine reading” and refers to an approach to both prayer and scripture practiced since the early church. The four (4) steps in Lectio Divina are:

1. Lectio (reading): an attentive slow reading of a short passage of scripture.

2. Meditatio (meditation): an effort to understand the passage and apply it to your own life.

3. Oratio (prayer): engaging or talking with God about the passage.

4. Contemplatio (contemplate): is a method of allowing oneself to be absorbed in the word of God as the spirit draws us into His presence, by the lifting up of our hearts, tasting somewhat of the heavenly sweetness.

The Lectio Divina Study Group meets every Wednesday evening in the convent chapel from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
