I would like to bring about some awareness of a simple way many of us can give back to Our Lady of Mercy School. It requires minimal time and effort on your part.

Many parents, parishioners and OLM volunteers work for companies that will match your weekly donations to Our Lady of Mercy as part of your corporate benefits. My family takes advantage of the Verizon Matching Gift Program every year to OLM and it really is a convenient, simple way to give back!

I would like to take a moment to list how simple this process is:

Call your Corporate Human Resources Department and ask if the company matches donations and/or volunteer hours for Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) Charitable Organizations. If they do, you can probably obtain a matching donation/volunteer hour form from them directly. Many corporations have forms on their websites that you can download.

You will be asked to provide the check amount, date of check, check # and to which tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization check was made out to.

As soon as you provide the above information to your employer, they will then verify with the OLM Rectory that the donation was received. If you are using the OLM parish envelope system for your contributions, this will make it so much easier to verify.

The OLM Rectory will verify this information and your corporation will send a check that matches the amount of your check dollar for dollar (sometimes double) to Our Lady of Mercy!

It really is that simple! I hope that you will take the time and find out if your company participates in a matching gifts programÖIím sure that many of you will be pleasantly surprised.
